The Fujinon MK18-55mm T2.9 for Sony E is a lightweight cinema zoom for Sony APS-C cameras and Super35 camcorders. Key features include:
Fast T2.9 Aperture
Parfocal with minimum focus breathing
Geared controls for focus, iris and zoom
Native Sony E-mount
Featherweight. The first thing you’ll notice when you pick up the Fujinon MK18-55mm T2.9 for Sony E is that it’s beyond light. Weighing in at just north of 2 pounds means that this lens can be mounted without the need of an additional lens support apparatus when needed. It also makes it a prime candidate for gimbal work.
High Quality Optics. The lens features a fast T2.9 clickless aperture, controlled by nine rounded blades. It is color matched to compliment higher end offerings from Fujinon, and the 28.5mm diameter image circle covers the APS-C / Super35 sensor format.
Cine Style. Unlike many other Sony E-mount “cine” lenses, the MK18-55mm is truly a cinema lens with a full cinema feature set. The focus, iris, and zoom rings all have a industry standard 0.8 gears. The focus ring gives you precise control over pulls and follows with 200° of rotation, while the iris ring is declicked with a smooth action allowing you adjust exposure mid-shot. There’s also back-focus tuning to keep what’s in focus precisely sharp and a macro adjustment to get up close and personal with any subject.
Parfocal This term is thrown around a good bit, but many lenses that claim it are not truly parfocal. Instead, they’re close enough that many won’t notice. Well not this one. The MK18-55mm is a true parfocal lens.
Are there any flare issues I should be aware of?
Should I use additional support with this lens?
Will this lens cover full frame?
Does it come equipped with focus gears?
