Output. The Sony HVL-F46RM Wireless Radio Flash has a guide number of 151 feet at ISO 100 and 105mm with the ability to produce around 320 full-power flashes with a two-second recycle time on a fully charged set of batteries. With a compatible camera, it can fire up to 60 continuous frames in high-speed bursts at up to 10 fps.

Face-Detection and Per-Frame P-TTL Flash Control. When you use this flash with a compatible camera, you can control the flash parameters from the camera’s menu. The camera’s face-detection feature provides the best possible lighting for your main subject, and high-speed control sequencing uses pre-flash to control each individual flash during continuous bursts. These features even work when tracking fast-moving subjects in scenes with dramatically fluctuating lighting.

Built-In Transceiver. This flash is equipped with a 2.4 GH transmitter, meaning that it can function as a radio commander or receiver as part of Sony’s radio wireless system. It has a 98-foot operating range and doesn’t require line of sight. It’ll support fifteen flashes in five groups on one of fourteen channels. It’s fully supported by Sony’s P-TTL/ADI metering system, including high-speed sync and ratio control.

Bounce, Rotation, and Zoom. You can rotate the HVL-F46RM 180°—90° in either direction—and tilt it from -8° to 150° for full bounce-flash capability. It has a 24-105mm zoom range, which you can expand to 15mm with the built-in wide-angle adapter.
