What’s Changed? Sony’s push for a lighter, more ergonomic super telephoto prime does not disappoint! The Sony FE 600mm f/6.3 GM OSS offers an astounding 67% lighter body compared to the prior model and sports a shorter design (under a foot) that’s better suited for travel. It’s just 2.2 pounds, and that’s including the hood and the foot. It’s also equipped with a 95mm front filter thread instead of the drop-in style. Not to disparage our beloved, revolutionary elder, but this update is easier on the eyes and much easier on the shoulders.

Full-Frame E-mount. As a part of the FE line of lenses, the FE 600mm f/6.3 GM OSS is designed for Sony full-frame cameras. It’s also fully compatible with APS-C cameras, on which it’ll provide a 900mm equivalent focal length.

Pro-Grade Super Telephoto Prime. The FE 600mm f/6.3 GM OSS is a far-reaching super telephoto prime that’s great for sports, wildlife, and nature photographers. It is also great for videographers who are looking for some extra reach. The rounded eleven-blade diaphragm creates smooth bokeh when you’re using selective-focus techniques.

Five-Axis Image Stabilization. A five-axis Optical SteadyShot image-stabilization system minimizes the appearance of camera shake, giving you sharp images even when you’re shooting hand-held at lower shutter speeds. Teleconverter Compatible. The FE 600mm f/6.3 GM OSS is compatible with 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters, where it will produce an 840mm f/9 and 1200mm f/13 equivalent view, respectively.
