Full-Frame E Mount. As a part of the G Master line of lenses, the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM is designed to cover the full-frame sensors on Sony a7-series cameras. Since it’s an E-mount lens, it’s also fully compatible with APS-C NEX cameras.

Versatile Normal-Length Prime. When used on a full-frame camera, this lens provides a normal focal length that’s excellent for portrait, fashion, event, landscape, and street photography. The fast f/1.2 aperture is great for low-light shooting and subject-background isolation, and the rounded eleven-blade diaphragm gives images smooth out-of-focus areas when you desire a shallow depth of field. Using an APS-C camera? You’ll get a 75mm focal length.

Advanced Optics. The FE 50mm f/1.2’s ten-group/fourteen-element optical design incorporates three extreme aspherical elements and one standard aspherical element to reduce spherical aberrations and produce sharp, clear, and color-accurate images. Each element has an updated Nano AR Coating II that helps combat surface reflections, flare, and ghosting for greater color rendering and contrast in strong light.

Quad-Motor Autofocus System. This internal focusing system provides fast, nearly silent, and highly accurate autofocus performance that’s great for still and video use. A customizable focus hold button and an AF/MF switch help to tailor focusing to your shooting needs.

High-Quality Build. The FE 50mm offers dust- and moisture-resistant sealing for use in less-than-ideal conditions. The all-metal barrel and rubberized manual-focus ring give this lens a solid feel. The aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent switching, and the lens’s front element has a fluorine coating to help protect it from fingerprints and debris. This lens is pretty lightweight and just 1.7 lbs., too.
