The OM SYSTEM OM-5 Mark II is a second-generation OM-5-series mirrorless camera with upgrades borrowed from the higher-end OM-3. Key features include:
20MP sensor and TruePic IX processor
Advanced 5-axis sync IS stabilization
IP53-certified weather sealing
Computational photography button
What’s Changed? There are subtle changes in the long-awaited followup to the original OM-5. Both use the same sensor and processor, as well as the same ISO range, burst rate, and AF system. At baseline, the video specs are also the same but this second-generation version now supports OM-Cinema 1 and 2 profiles – a feature borrowed from the higher-end OM-3. A tally lamp has been added and the grip is reconfigured for increased comfort. The menu system has been revamped to match the layout of the OM-3 and OM-1 Mark II, with easier-to-read color-coded tabs.
All-Rounder for Adventure. With an IP-53 weather seal rating and an ultra-compact build, the OM-5 Mark II has positioned itself as a great outdoor companion. It offers cool outdoor-friendly features, such as Starry Sky AF, which allows you to capture stunning astro shots, and Night Vision mode for stealthy shooting in the wilderness. With a newly-added USB-C port you can keep your camera going longer when out in the field with optional power banks.
A Helping Hand. Getting sharp results is easy with the OM-5 Mark II thanks to its in-body, sensor-shift stabilization system with up to 7.5 stops of shake compensation (when paired with IS lenses, otherwise it’s 6.5 stops). Use this in conjunction with Handheld Assist shooting mode, where you can see in real time your subtle movements while you’re hand-holding the camera. Hand-holding overall has been improved with a more pronounced handgrip designed for easier one-handed use.
Other Features. Apply picture settings directly to a raw file on the card and apply changes to a bunch of images at once with Art Bracketing. Live ND makes it so that you can take long exposures in bright light, while Focus Stacking will greatly increase depth of field on macro shots. Multiple Exposure will combine a pair of images with creative and unique results. Choose from among the OM-5 Mark II’s color profiles or art filters, even when shooting video. Additionally, there are now video-specific profiles for cinematic results. Among these is a flat profile for later color correction. Vertical video is supported and the red tally lamp tells you immediately that the camera is rolling. Overall, the OM-5 Mark II is an affordable everyday shooter with great outdoor protection and fun computational features available at the push of a button.
This camera does NOT include a separate battery charger, it charges the battery in-camera with the supplied USB C cable and power adapter.
You sure can! It supports the UVC/UAC standard and can operate like a webcam without special software.
The OM-5 Mark II supports unlimited video recording.
The BLS-50 battery lasts for about 310 shots or 60 minutes of recording. Power can be topped off with an optional power bank and USB-C cable.
