Stepping-Motor Autofocus System. This system uses a stepping motor to deliver fast, smooth, highly accurate, and nearly silent autofocus operation. You also get full-time manual focusing for precision adjustments, while the clickless control ring and ability to suppress focus breathing make it great for video capture. The 5.9-inch minimum focusing distance lets you capture detailed close-ups, but you’ll get razor-sharp image clarity regardless of the focusing distance you’re using. The internal focusing design means the lens maintains its compact size while you’re using it.

Optical Design. A eleven-group/twelve-element optical system includes one extra-low dispersion element and two aspherical elements for edge-to-edge sharpness, clarity, and accurate color rendering.

Compact, Lightweight Build. This lens’s durable, dust- and drip-resistant construction means you can use it in adverse conditions without worry. It’s a compact 3.5 inches long and weighs just under one pound. A programmable control ring lets you adjust manual focus, aperture, or exposure compensation, and the 67mm front thread gives you plenty of filter options.
