Nikon has updated their old 300 f/4! This new lens is a pretty incredible bit of technology- the lens is less than 6" long, weighs 1.6 pounds, and packs in VR & super sharp optics. This lens is TINY for a 300mm lens, it's about the size of a Nikon 24-70, though a little bit lighter. Check out the photos for a size comparison between it, a 70-200 2.8 and the old 300 f4D. The PF in the title stands for Phase Fresnel, which is an optic specially designed to achieve maximum sharpness and clarity with almost zero chromatic aberration or ghosting. Nikon's new E designation means it has an internal electromagnetic diaphragm which replaces the older mechanical method, ensuring consistent exposures during high frame rate spray & prays.
Overall, a fantastic lens for sports, wildlife, even weddings & portraits. Serisouly, give this lens a shot at your next wedding or portrait shoot, the extra compression offered by the longer focal length will give your photos that little something special.
