Canon RF Mount. The Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM belongs to Canon’s line of RF-mount lenses. It’s compatible with RF-mount cameras, but it doesn’t work with Canon EF-mount cameras.

Versatile Medium-Telephoto Macro Prime. This lens’s medium-telephoto length and 10.2-inch minimum focusing distance make it great for portraiture and macro photography. Its aperture is consistently bright throughout the zoom range, and its rounded nine-blade diaphragm gives you great depth-of-field control for selective focusing. On top of that, a Spherical Aberration Control Ring lets you alter the shape and character of foreground and background bokeh to create dreamlike images with a soft-focus look.

Redesigned Optics. This lens’s thirteen-group/seventeen-element optical formula was designed to minimize chromatic aberrations and color fringing while providing high clarity, color fidelity, and sharpness. Canon has applied a Super Spectra coating to the lens elements to further combat ghosting and flaring, even in harsh lighting.

Fast, Ultra-Precise Autofocus. The Dual Nano autofocus system uses both a ring-type USM and an STM mechanism to provide fast, accurate, and nearly silent autofocus performance for both still and video shooters. You also get full-time manual-focus controlled by a customizable electronic focusing ring with three sensitivity levels, and a Focus Preset button to quickly recall a programmed focus position.

Optical Image Stabilization. The 100mm f/2.8L’s built-in image stabilizer compensates for five stops of camera shake, so that you can shoot in lower light at slower shutter speeds without worry. When you pair this lens with newer EOS R bodies that themselves feature five-axis in-body image stabilization, you get a staggering eight stops of shake correction.
