The Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD for Sony E is a flexible short to mid telephoto zoom designed for full- and crop-frame Sony cameras. Key features include:
Versatile wide-aperture telephoto-range zoom
High-quality optical design
Fast, accurate, and nearly silent autofocus
Durable, weather-resistant build
Flexible Telephoto Zoom. The Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD’s fast, constant f/2.8 aperture gives you excellent depth-of-field control and consistent brightness throughout the zoom range. Using an APS-C camera? This lens will give you 105-270mm equivalent focal length.
Advanced Optical Design. The fourteen-group/nineteen-element optical formula includes six low-dispersion elements and three aspherical elements gives you sharp, high-contrast images across the image plane. Each lens element has a BBAR-G2 coating that combats ghosting, internal reflections, and flare while helping maintain sharpness and color fidelity even in strong light.
Fast, Accurate Autofocus. The 270-180mm autofocuses quickly, accurately, and smoothly, making it ideal for still and video use. It also offers full-time manual-focus override for even greater precision. Its 2.8-inch minimum focusing distance at all focal lengths and 1:4.6 maximum magnification ratio at the 180mm focal length makes it useful for working with close-up subjects. When you’re using manual focus at the 70mm focal length, it’s possible to focus at 10.6 inches with a 1:2 maximum magnification ratio, but peripheral image quality might not be ideal.
Durable Construction. You can use this lens in inclement conditions thanks to its moisture-resistant build. The front lens’s fluorine coating protects against smearing and debris.
Yes, this lens provides full-frame sensor coverage.
Di III refers to Tamron’s third generation of Digitally Integrated Design lenses that have been engineered specifically for mirrorless, interchangeable-lens cameras with no internal mirror box or pentaprism.
