Versatile Hybrid Cinema and Still Camera. The feature-rich Sony FX2 Full-Frame Cinema Camera combines a Cinema-Line camera’s expansive video capabilities with advanced still-image capture, all in a portable form factor that makes it easy to use on the go.
DCI 4K 4:2:2 10-Bit 60p Video. The FX2 can capture UHD 4K at up to 60 fps in Super 35 mode and at up to 30 fps with 7K oversampling in full-frame mode. Both modes give you razor-sharp, high-bitrate 4:2:2 10-bit video in XAVS S, S-I, and HS formats and in Long GOP, All-Intra, H.264, and H.265 codecs. Scaling down to 1080p allows for frame rates up to 240 fps.
RAW Video Output. You can use the FX2 to shoot 16-bit 4K RAW video when paired with compatible recorders, like the ATOMOS Ninja V. Recording RAW provides an enormous amount of detail and information, and it gives you over fifteen stops of dynamic range in your footage.
Hybrid Still Capture. While the FX2’s video features are arguably the star of the show, it’s also a more-than-capable still camera. It can shoot 33MP JPG or HEIF stills in S-Log3 at dual-base 800/4000 ISO for simplified color grading in post, and you can capture stills from shot marks while you’re recording or playing back video. You can also apply LUTs to your images, or use S-Gamut3 or S-Gamut3.Cine color spaces.
AI-Augmented Autofocus. The FX2’s deep-learning assisted real-time subject recognition can quickly identify people, animals, and vehicles based on color, pattern, and depth analysis, making its autofocus feature more than capable of capturing fast-paced action and allowing for precise auto-framing. According to Sony, its human and animal eye recognition offers a 30% improvement compared to the FX3 and FX30.
Broad-Ranging Stabilization Options. Looking to eliminate the appearance of camera shake? You get five-axis in-body optical stabilization with AI-enhanced processing, a Dynamic Active mode designed to stabilize hand-held footage, and embedded E-mount lens-shake metadata for easier post-production.
CFexpress Type A and SD Support. The Sony FX2 has one CFexpress Type A/SDXC card slot and one SD card slot, which means you can use CFexpress Type A media for the highest bitrate recording and SDXC or SD cards for less demanding frame rates and bitrates. This configuration also lets you capture video and stills to separate cards without the need to switch cards.
Built-in Wireless Streaming. Whether controlling the camera via a smartphone or tablet, streaming wirelessly to a client monitor, or wirelessly transferring files to editorial, the FX2’s built-in Wi-Fi is prepared to handle all of your wireless needs.
Monitor and Control. You can use Sony’s Monitor & Control app for Android and iOS to turn your smartphone into a wireless video monitor. It lets you use your phone to remotely control the camera, display and control clips from the camera, start and stop recording, adjust white balance, change ISO, adjust color settings, and swap between LUTs.
Yes. You’ll need an ATOMOS Ninja V and an HDMI cable to record RAW video from the Sony FX2.
