What’s In a Name? The DJI RS 3 gimbal Stabilizer Combo is an upgraded version of the DJI RSC 2, not to be confused with the DJI RS 2. The RSC 2 is the little brother to the larger, more powerful RS 2. This model serves as the compact, lightweight entry in the Ronin lineup, while the RS 3 Pro is more suited towards heavier, complex camera rigs.

RS 3 Combo. This combo includes the RS 3 gimbal as well a briefcase handle, focus motor, and rod mount kit, along with two multi-camera control cables and a lens-fastening strap- everything you need to get started with your mirrorless camera rig.

Perfectly Portable. The RS 3 still supports 6.6 lb payloads like its predecessor, the RSC 2, but now weighs only 2.8 lb. Automated axis locks allows you to quickly unlock all axes and expand the gimbal automatically, or quickly lock all three axes and enter sleep mode, making setup and teardown a breeze. Additional features like wireless shutter control, a fine-tuning knob for balancing, and a multipurpose dial useful for adjusting zoom, focus, shutter, aperture, ISO, or gimbal movements make the RS 3 the perfect choice for quick, on-the-go shooting and versatile control.

Designed for Mirrorless. Due to its 6.6 lb payload limit, this gimbal isn’t the go-to for bulky DSLR or compact video camera setups, but is more suited for mirrorless lenses. A Sony a7S III or Canon R5 with a 24-70mm zoom lens are perfect options for this gimbal.

SuperSmooth. There’s a reason the Ronin stabilizers are so popular- they just work, delivering smooth footage in easy-to-use packages. By increasing motor torque though, the RS 3 enters a “SuperSmooth” mode, enhancing stabilization even when moving quickly or with focus at 100mm. The upgraded briefcase handle offers an adjustable option perfect for low-angle shooting and additional support, reducing strain on your wrist, thereby enabling longer sessions.

Toolless Focus. Gone are the days of screwing in focus motors and long setup processes- the RS Focus Motor has a quick-release mechanism that allows it to be assembled without using a single tool. This motor provides more torque and runs significantly quieter than the previous version, making it more powerful, more portable, and less intrusive.

Little Things Make a Big Difference. While there are a lot of big changes to the RS lineup with the RS 3, some things only needed a little upgrading. The 1.8" OLED screen is not only nearly twice as large as the RSC 2’s screen, it’s now full color and grants access to a redesigned user interface with controls for most settings found in the Ronin app. A redesigned battery grip makes it easier to swap and store batteries, and it can be charged separately from the gimbal! The extended runtime of 12 hours is perfect for all-day shooting, and it only takes 2.5 hours to recharge. For marathon sessions, the battery can even be charged while using the RS 3 for nearly unlimited power.
