The Samurai field recorder from Atomos is the easiest way to capture, monitor, and playback 10bit uncompressed (Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD) video either on location or in the studio from lots of your favorite cameras--nearly any with a clean HDMI out.
The sweet touchscreen is powered by the amazingly simple AtomOS, allowing to choose the recording format, timecode format, and even name the device to get up and running very quickly. The unit also includes two batteries with smart switching technology, allowing you to 'hot swap' batteries on the fly without ever powering down. With the ability to accept nearly any 2.5" laptop HDD or SSD, you can record for hours on a single media source. Then, just simply plug it into your computer and you're editing away in your favorite NLE software--no transcoding, no waiting for long conversions!
Including all of the 'Smart' features of the Ninja 2, the Samurai replaces HDMI ports with SDI ports. This allows for longer cable lengths, time code and gen lock support, 3D support with 2 genlocked Samurais, multi camera support, and support for more professional level cameras.
